Tailored to perfection

Pop singer Faye Tozer, formerly of Steps, knew where to go when she wanted someone to design a special suit for her husband-to-be.

She contacted St Albans tailor Geoffrey Golding to make Danish rock drummer Jesper Irn's striking oyster-coloured brocade wedding suit complemented her own dazzling wedding gown.

Geoffrey, aged 58, whose business is in Hatfield Road, said: "Jesper wanted something very different and loved my flamboyant design. Faye wanted to make sure that the two outfits were mutually enhancing, which was achieved, so we were all very pleased with the outcome."

Royal
Geoffrey, who was appointed tailor to the royal family last year, and his wife and fellow director Theresa, were guests at the showbiz couple's evening reception at Brocket Hall, after the wedding at the Priory Church of St Peter in Dunstable, Faye's home town.

The Goldings, who live in the St Stephen's area of St Albans, have two sons and a grandson. Theresa said: "The wedding was a great thrill. I particularly enjoyed meeting Russell Watson the singer."

They weren't allowed commemorative snaps, however the wedding photography was contracted exclusively to a celebrity magazine.

Faye told Geoffrey her husband's suit was "superb" and Jesper said he was "thrilled by the craftmanship".

Geoffrey also made Faye's father a handsome grey herringbone suit with two-tone cerise lining.

Geoffrey said: "Designing for celebrities is a wonderful bonus. Working with showbiz and sporting stars brings different kinds of challenges and we are certainly keen to develop that side of the business."
